Ski touring at night is truly something special.
During the day, the slopes are bustling with skiers and tobogganists, but once night falls, the Avagrossa descent leading towards the Piengtal is reserved exclusively for ski tourers one evening each week.

Please note: The ascent and descent are unlit, and use is at your own risk. Access is permitted only on the Avagrossa descent. All other slopes are groomed starting immediately after the end of ski operations. Entering or skiing on any other slopes is dangerous and strictly prohibited.

through the Piengtal

Winter hiking

The shortest hiking trail no. 19 to JOCHELIUS in the Piengtal begins at the Ortlerblick, south of the parish church. It continues through the Mittlere Pitsche to the legendary Heiligbaumboden. From there, the trail remains relatively flat until the Stierhaag am Piengbach, before climbing steeply through the Piengtal.

At 1,800m elevation, you cross the Piengbach and follow a short steep section up to JOCHELIUS at 1,900m. The descent follows the same path back to the village. Note: On the final 200m along the ski slope, please watch out for skiers!
